To celebrate Burns Night on 25th January the energetic Ramsdell Reelers danced the evening away, ate haggis and made merry. The hall and dining tables looked amazing decorated with tartan swags.
Fair fa’ your honest, sonsie face,
Great chieftain o the puddin’-race!
Aboon them a’ ye tak your place,
Painch, tripe, or thairm:
Weel are ye worthy o’ a grace
As lang’s my arm.
Our thanks go to the Friends of St. Mary’s (FOSM) for bringing their annual quiz to the Fieldgate Centre. There was a full house of 13 tables with a total of 104 contestants. Congratulations to the team ‘Universally Challenged’ who were the winners (once again). What a great evening! We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
New Year, new activity for the kids?
Maybe they’re showing an interest in football, or are already a keen footballer and ready to develop their skills.
Kingsclere Youth Football Club welcomes players from Year 1 upwards at every stage and level of ability.
The team trains every Saturday morning at 10 am with qualified coaches, usually at The Fieldgate, but occasionally elsewhere. From Under-8s upwards, children have the opportunity to play in a local league for those children who wish to.
For more information or to register your interest, call Dean on 07544 729062.
New curtains have been fitted today at The Fieldgate to improve the look, standard and functionality of the centre.
Thank you to Janet for sorting out the funding application that allowed us to pay for the curtains and running the competition to get us the best supply.
Playday is coming to the Fieldgate Centre! Instead of one big event in Basingstoke, this year B&D Borough Council is taking Playday out into the communities and it has asked us to support the campaign.
On Wednesday 1st August from 10am-2pm there will be lots of free activities to encourage play for children aged 4-12yrs. Some messy, some not so messy, some indoors and some outdoors – plus refreshments and music. So, put the date in your diary! All welcome – children must be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout the event.
Play day is a campaign that highlights the importance of play in children’s lives. On Play day, thousands of children and young people get out to play at hundreds of locally organised celebrations – from small-scale neighbourhood get-togethers to large-scale public events. Playday is coordinated by Play England, Play Wales, Play Scotland and PlayBoard Northern Ireland. www.playday.org.uk.
More details about how you can join in the fun will soon be on The Fieldgate Centre’s website and facebook.
